The town of Aleyrac straddles a pass, 490 metres (1,607 feet) above sea level, between La Bégude de Mazenc and Salles sous Bois. It is linked to Dieulefit via the chain of hills that separates the Jabron Valley (Montélimar region) and the Berre lagoon (Tricastin). This double exposure contributes to a unique natural environment with a very diversified flora.
There is a smattering of farms (lavender, sheep) and a few houses surrounding the town hall. The only «shops» in the town are a cheese dairy and a farm selling local produce.
In the heart of a valley, close to the road, the ruins of Notre-Dame-la-Brune church (classified as a historical monument).
