In our Dieulefit-Bourdeaux region you will discover many creative craftsmen, potters and ceramists whose skill has been passed down through generations. Today they use their knowledge of ancient traditions to create original art.
Pottery has been a part of everyday life since the Gallo-Roman era. Originally designed for domestic use, pottery had a golden age during the industrial revolution in the 19th century. It is only during the 20th century that ceramics became an art.Nowadays, our Dieulefit-Bourdeaux region is home to about 40 workshops of potters and ceramists - among other craftsmen and artists who chose this region to develop their talents. The Dieulefit-Bourdeaux region is renowned as an important centre for ceramics, and has been awarded the title of "Pôle d'Excellence Rurale".
The "Maison de la Céramique" (Ceramics Museum) is an exceptional attraction open to visitors all year round. It highlights the richness of local ceramics through temporary and permanent exhibitions. You can even participate in training courses and leisure workshops.
A pottery market takes place every other year over the Pentecost weekend. Around a hundred professional ceramists attend the event. When purchasing local ceramics, you will find "Dieulefit Original" products: this label is used by some of our potters and ceramists to guarantee the authenticity and quality of the product.
